I’ve managed to update the blog.
I’ve fucked up the sidebar on the right though…
It’s going to be a painful time fixing all this up. But at least I haven’t lost everything and had the site completely die on me… ![]()

Upgading wordpress as you read this.
Things may disappear. So consider this a possible end-of-the-world message.
I was on the bus today coming home from the City. Now, there’s a local where I live who I happened to catch the bus with. This guy’s a known criminal and quite literally, a psychopath. What he is doing outside of our state’s fine correctional facilities is something most of us locals want to know. He’s a nice enough bloke if you’re buying your fish from him, and you ask him how his day is etc. Or if you offer him a light etc. He’s fine, like most sociopaths who have one too many run-ins with the law. This guy isn’t built, he’s a thin, wiry build but he has that manic berserker strength that I’ve had the misfortune of witnessing (my local shopping plaza, it took four officers to hold him down and they had to literally knock him out cold with whatever they use). Now, as I said, I was on the bus coming home today; it’s a frequent bus, I won’t mention the specific number.
Anyway, I hop on, greet him by name, he’s seen me round the neighborhood a few times, and a couple of times I’ve helped him out with directions or given him a cancer stick to suck on (cigarette).
So I sit a few seats back and go to my usual stare-out-the-window-in-a-daze state and a few minutes later just as the bus is about to leave, on hops three lebanese gentlemen. Now these lads were probably 16, 17, and maybe 15 for the smallest fellow. The driver starts the bus and away we go, so we head on the way home.
Now this local psycho, I’ll call him Alex, was minding his own business, in fact he was reading a book. These lads start hassling him and everyone on the bus, racial slurs, near physical insults, i’m talking in-your-face abuse. And he does an admirable job of keeping his cool and avoiding them. We’re on the Harbour Bridge heading towards the freeway home and all of a sudden one of them slaps him. He takes it and the biggest kid grabs his book and chucks it down the aisle at me. Just as well I thought I’d take a look in their direction, or I’d have a copy of Robert Ludlum’s Valhalla slap me in the face. Anyway, I manage to raise a hand in time to stop it, and pick up the book for Alex, giving it back to Alex with a “good book mate” before going back to my seat. Alex meanwhile gives a smile and snaps.
The youngster who slapped him gets a fist straight in the nose and goes down. The other kid gets slammed into the disabled section’s giant stop button, and then hammered on the corner of the seat. Yes, there’s blood. And he goes down.
At this point I’m mortified, sitting in my seat there and the driver’s stopped the bus, there are maybe two other men on board, and a lady with her small little child. They’re all deadly silent, trying not to make a sound as Alex snarls and grabs the final guy and starts strangling him. Now, these folks are completely terrified and I pull out my phone and pause as I hear probably the most sinister threat ever.
Alex holds the gargling kid and licks his cheek as the boy near screams, and he says something along the lines of when the boy passes out, he’s going to find their wallets on their bodies and take down their names and whatever details, and when they least expect it, he’s going to come after them, their families and kill everything they love.
To be honest, I’ve never heard something truly evil before, but I think that’d have to be pretty damn close to it. I proceed to dial triple-0.
The boy is spasming alarmingly when I report the incident and sick to my gut, I get off the bus at the next stop just as two officers try to board the bus. I wasn’t stopped for a statement or anything. But I can’t help but feel there’s something wrong with me in thinking those little punks deserved it. They were terrifying a pregnant mother, two old men, and a small child. Not to mention the racial slurs they gave everyone.
I don’t know if Alex really did get their details, but I hope those children learnt a harsh lesson in life.
Wow, I have sort of neglected this blog for quite a while eh?
I was recently fiddling around with the startup and shutdown sounds of my PC while customizing its themes. Now usually I’m not one for eye candy; or for fiddling around with the appearance of Windows, I generally use the Windows classic theme, default black wallpaper, and expect my windows to do whatever without having to look pretty while it’s at it.
Recently that’s changed since helping my late friend’s mother access his PC to help backup his work.
Sounds from Portal are what I’ve been using as the startup and shutdown of my PC and honestly, I love the turret voice clips. I use the ‘Product.mp3′ from turrets and the ‘No hard feelings.mp3′ from turrets as the start and shutdown of my Windows sound clips now respectively.
I’m wondering what else would sound awesome as sound replacements in my Windows environment.
